Our position is...

15 degrees 59 minutes North, 45 degrees 04 minutes West. We are going 7 knots motoring and are on a course of 290 degrees true. The wind is 15-20 knots app. from apx. 090. There is about 70% cloud cover and it is 81.9 degrees down below. The seas are still bumpy with a 2-3 meter swell. We are motoring due to all the squalls. Last night, at around 11:00, we were torn out of bed once again to take down the asymmetrical. This time it was on my mom's watch and she was forced to wake us all up as the wind had gotten really gusty and was gusting up to 30 knots apparent. That's a lot of wind to be flying a spinnaker considering that we were going nine knots with the wind on our quarter. At least the moon was up this time. Amazingly, the whole time we were taking the spinnaker down, there were no gusts. According to my mom it was the longest period between gusts of the whole night. My dad put the--we have finished our circumnavigation--champagne in the freezer to chill a couple days ago and today we were astonished to find that it had frozen and exploded everywhere. We did not expect that our freezer would get cold enough to freeze an alcoholic beverage especially since my dad put it in the warmest spot in the freezer. I think this must be a bad omen. Talk about a mess! Because we have been motoring today I had the chance to fish. Once again I lost another fish. This really is rather embarrassing. When I was moaning about being outsmarted by a fish again, my mom made sure to point out to me the size of a fish's brain by making a space between her index finger and thumb that a pea wouldn't fit between. Whatever it was that I lost hit the Ilander Black Hole. It was sooooooooooooo big that it pretty much spooled my reel before the line broke. By the time the line broke I only had a couple yards of line left on the spool I suspect marlin from the way it took off for the horizon and the way it fought and ran. We passed a bit of the time away this afternoon by reading out loud another intriguing Father Brown Story. Hope all is well (or more so).

Sincerely,

Robby
